sept 21st fall solstice and yo-yo baby!

Dear kayman,
you are now 9 months old and we LOVE & adore you! (we did before too, just so much more each day) Your presence is a blessing to us every minute that we get to spend with you... You now weigh 16lbs 11oz, and your've grown 2 inches since your last checkup, totaling 27". You are one long and lean machine missy! You started crawling during mommie's school retreat and have been scootin' ever since. Since a few weeks ago, you are now eating 3 solid meals along with your leche. Your fav. meal is a tie between avocado and yo-yo baby yogurt, a true cali girl after my own heart. you can now pull yourself up along the coffee table, the platform bed in your room...we love going to your RIE class. I am so glad you like the wooden haba toys mommie gets for you vs. all of the plastic that is out there. one of my favorite things to share is snuggling after you wake up during the wee hours of the morning...you are now sleeping through the night most of the time, with the wake up between 4-6. Every morning, I look forward to taking a walk with you down the walk streets of abbot kinney so mommie can get her espresso, and also point out to you all of the hidden gems of venice...you are growing ever so fast! this week, you just popped out another 2 tooth, one top and one bottom, our tally is now 8! thank goodness I was able to get your amber necklace to you just in time, another magical natural intervention for teethin' babies. poppa and i love hanging out with you sooo much these days! i love you my sweetie! after your 9 month appointment this week, i am looking forward to our next neurologist appointment and weaning you from your seizure medicine. I thank god and my lucky stars everyday that you are seizure free. you are truly a miracle! AND I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE that you LOVE, LOVE, eatin', especially your yogurt...and I LOVE, ADORE YOU!!!

with much love and many blessings,
mommie

August 24th mommies graduation

After 3 long years, mommie graduated a few weekends ago with a masters in spiritual psychology. i am soooo proud of her and was so blessed to be there alongside her through her week long retreat that led up to her degree. i don't have much to say except that i wouldn't be here today if it were not for mommie's determination at USM. and also, that I celebrated my 8 month b-day on the road in palm desert where mommie's practicum was held). On the motor development side of things, i can sort of crawl now at 8 months and sit up. it made for lots more work for mommies friend barbara who was there to take of me while mommie was in class. (thank you barbara for taking such goooood care of me. I felt loved and love and miss you!) it was also fun to hang out with a classmate's of mommies nicole and her daughter petra during mommie's break in between classes. As much fun as it was in the desert, after 6 days of being in 110 degree weather, we were ready to be venice bound again. Graduation was such a joyous and special occasion. i got to goto royce hall at UCLA to take in all of the festivities. I love the photo of us. I know, I am such a ham. I can't help it, love mommie and am soooo proud of her.
xx00-kayman riley loves mommie!

We lounged at the Fremont hilton for a few days-- all of the fam, including a leisure trip to the montery bay aquarium (thank you Auntie Alex, for organizing)....I loved meeting the family and cannot wait until the next reunion! Toronto 2010~ I will be much more than walking by then, so....WATCH OUT JACQUIE!!:)))))) LOL!! I will be a force to reckon with (especially during poker). June 17th-27th ashland ma./waterville nh./millbrook ny.

This post is long overdue.... where did the time go? I had my first trip back east a few months ago to meet all of the Mangans and the Sloans. Well, I've met most of them in utero in mommie's tummy during their big hitch in Palm Desert...but now in person. We spent the first leg of the trip in Waterville, new hampshire after an overniter in Ashland, MA at grandpa Mangan's after we landed from la la land. It was a long airplane ride with layovers but I made it in one piece and only a few tantrums. Poppa Francis Mangan drove all the way to the airport in R.I. to come pick me up. Have I told you how much I love grandpa Francis? I loved hanging out with him, he lets me play with his belt and his watch. He is a good hanger-outer.

We arrived on a thursday late nighter and then drove to n.h. on friday. it rained pretty much the entire time we were in n.h. we stayed busy... i hung out with all of the aunties and uncles at the 2 condos we had rented, went to the river one day (that is me snug as a bug with thew white towel on the rock slab) just chilling like bob dylan. not much else to do while the elders went body surfing or tubing or just hangin' out. Mommie took really good care of me to make sure that I didn't get wet. All of my aunties were soooooo nice! Auntie Peggy styled me out in a new onesie that said crabby on it, along with stylie sippie cup, auntie tina fed me and hung out lots in the condo, as did auntie christine who organized all of my extra luggage....I wished all of my aunties lived closer. I really appreciate them and all that they do for me! I am such a lucky gal indeed!

We did some sightseeing to old skiing haunts of poppa's...hung out at the condo with family, celebrated cousin Brigid's b-day. i got my first taste of sam adams from uncle owens....we went driving to see the mt. washington hotel and other historical places one day...another day, cousin Krystin and I hung out with mommie while others went boating and waterskiing.

After Waterville, we went back to Ashland for a bit and hung with uncle Owen's family before making the dash for Millbrook. Carly, Jack, Owen and Sheila with kitty were great hosts. They bbqd ribs and had us over for a yummy dinner. We also visited Cousin Maria and her family.

During the latter part of the trip, we drove to Millbrook and hung with auntie Alex and her family. nice to not drive anywhere and just hang for an afternoon under the trees. Very relaxin to chill with cousins Dustin and Tucker. We bbq'd the day we were due back in Ashland it was sad to go all in all, as we love our east coast family! we can't wait to see them soon, hopefully during xmas. Thanks mommie for taking good care of me during this trip! Thanks auntie Christine for setting up all of my nice things to make a girl feel at home, the swing, the pack and play, the high chair. I love all of you!!! I can't wait to romp with my cousins soon! xxx-kayman a.k.a. the "pea-nut"
